Three Months

Today is the first day of Spring and three days short of March 23. Today is three days shy of three months from the date I left New York City, December 23.

Today I am thankful for a supportive family, beautiful weather, and hope found in a new season.

Happy 4th of July!

AHOP's parents treated us to a 4th of July fireworks cruise on the Hudson River. This was the first time I had seen the NYC Independence Day fireworks. They were spectacular- especially from the great view we had from the boat.

Atlantic City

Last weekend AHOP's parents took us AC, NJ.  We explored the Boardwalk, checked out the Casinos, and stopped at an amazing outlet mall on the way back to the City for some great shopping bargains.

Snow - Round 2

Yesterday, we were hit with 19 inches of  wet snow! Just 5 weeks ago the city received 20 inches of snow.  I missed all the havoc of the first storm- I was home for Christmas. According to witnesses of the "Christmas Blizzard" the city did a much better job in responding to this storm.

Where will you go in 2011?

Each year I look forward to the announcement of Top Travel Destinations for the coming year from various publications, sites, etc...

My favorite list is the NY Times.

NY Times Best Places to go in 2011

I was so surprised when reading over the list to see how much of a connection I had with 5 of the places in the top 13....

bunny slope- please.

A long MLK weekend  gave us incentive to get out of the city for the weekend. After debating between several options we decided a day trip to a small ski resort on the NJ/NY state line was our best option .  We were able to take a NJ Transit bus from the city to the resort for ~$25 round trip. After pricing rental cars we decided that this was a fantastic deal. Rental cars for the (under 25years old) trip were coming up at no less than $150 per day.
Mountain Creek
Sugar Slope Super Star!
The place was nicer than I had expected but very crowded because of the holiday weekend. We didn't leave the bunny slopes the entire day...and Ahop still managed to have some hefty falls. After returning to the city he was still feeling a lot of head pain from one tumble down the hill so we decided to go to the ER for precaution. He got a scan on his head and everything checked out ok. We will be sure to pay the extra $10 for helmet rental next time -even if we are just staying on the bunny slope.
