SNOW DAY IN COLLEGE!

On top of the first snow we received we ended up with many many more inches of snow Tuesday night, resulting in a no school day for IU on Wednesday. Did you know this was even possible??? Well it was fun for a day but now it would be nice if it would go away or at least a bit of it. Our cars are still snowed in 3 days later and the city still hasn't plowed our little alley ways even though they are official city streets.

We got snow today! Here is a picture of the house I live in with four other girls (the one on the right) and a shot of one of the two "alley" ways we live on.

I spent four days helping grandma get settled down in Florida for the winter. We had a great time and lucked out with pretty warm weather for January.

it's a new year

I didn't really want December 31, 2008 to end. Maybe because 2008 was such a great year for me or maybe because 2009 seems like such an uncertainty.
A few highlights of '08
1. studying abroad in London for 6 months
2. traveling to 11 European countries
3. running the Swiss Days Race??
4. tutoring Giovanni
ok, so basically the first two were the big ones and meant a lot more to me then just "studying" or "traveling"
Things to look forward to in '09
1. graduating from IU
2. looking for my first REAL job
So maybe this is why I wasn't ready for December 31, 2008 to turn into January 1, 2009. But oh well it's here now and there's no turning back. Bring on the New Year...

FLU

I had a great Christmas day but Christmas night I started to feel really really sick. For the past few days I've had the flu. I forgot how bad it STINKS!

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an infectious disease of birds and mammals caused by RNA viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae (the influenza viruses). The name influenza comes from the Italian: influenza, meaning "influence", (Latin: influentia). In humans, common symptoms of the disease are chills and fever, pharyngitis, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.[1] In more serious cases, influenza causes pneumonia, which can be fatal, particularly in young children and the elderly. Although it is sometimes confused with the common cold, influenza is a much more severe disease and is caused by a different type of virus.[2] Influenza can produce nausea and vomiting, especially in children,[1] but these symptoms are more characteristic of the unrelated gastroenteritis, which is sometimes called "stomach flu" or "24-hour flu".

I suffered from ahhheehmmmmm, the kind of influenza produced by a different type of virus apparently and had the stomach flu for a miserable 36 hours!

Today I skated on the lake with my two wonderful brothesr for the first time in FOREVER! The past two days temperatures here have been hovering around zero helping to speed up the freezing process of the lake and making it nice and thick to skate on.
